Media

SHTA in the media

SHTA has long-standing and positive relationships with the Seychelles media. Virtual, television, radio and print media have been central to the Association getting its message across to tourism professionals and the public at large.

The Tourism – Wi! national campaign

This section comprises television, radio and print material from the Tourism – Wi! national awareness campaign, which ran across all platforms from January 2021 — principally designed to reassure the public that the sector was in good shape as the pandemic receded and the Seychelles government decided to reopen Seychelles to tourists.

The airport reopened in August 2020 after consultations between the government, the Public Health Authority, SHTA and other key agencies. Seen in retrospect as a brave move and an example of effective collaboration between government and the private sector, it was one of the first reopenings in Africa — almost a year before Mauritius fully opened its borders — successfully balancing the need to protect public health with the need to restart the economy.

Education

The Tourism – Wi! Education Pack

A key part of the campaign, produced with the Seychelles Tourism Board and the Seychelles Tourism Academy: a full set of classroom resources for children in P5–S2, linking the campaign's two strands — health and the economy — to art, writing and broadcasting activities.

The 11 television films are available in the media section above. Radio audio, original scripts and the image library remain unconfirmed or unsupplied. The pack is presented as a historical archive: the teachers' guide carries contact details and deadlines from 2020, and the presentation was written while the borders were still closed.
